The two unnamed juveniles were arrested by Wilton Police on Thursday, Jan. 25, and charged with breach of peace as a result of an investigation of the event that occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 15, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk.
Police were notified of the posting, which contained a picture of a juvenile male holding what appeared to be a firearm with a caption that read “Don’t come to school Monday," by the New Canaan Police Department and the Facebook Law Enforcement Response Team.
The agencies had identified a residence in the Town of Wilton that the post originated from, Kluk said.
Members of the department’s patrol division immediately responded to the residence and made contact with the residents, none of which were identified as the juvenile depicted in the social media post.
An Investigation revealed that the juvenile in the post also lived in Wilton and officers responded to the residence and met the teen and his parent, police said.
Officers seized what has been determined to be a BB gun that was depicted in the social media post as well as an airsoft gun from the residence.
Both juveniles were released into the custody of their parents and are scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in Stamford.
Kluk said the investigation was able to determine that at no time was the incident a threat to the students or the community and was resolved in an expedited manner.
"The Department continues to maintain a visible presence as well as to work with the schools to ensure a safe environment," he added.
